The Copiun Data Manager is an on-premise solution that runs safely within your datacenter to manage your organizations user data. It is built on standard components, namely Windows File System and Microsoft SQL Server and runs on Windows 2003 R2 or Windows 2008 Server (32-bit or 64-bit). Copiun Data Manager Server is easy to install and is shipped as a VMWare virtual machine and can run on either VMWare ESX server or VMWare Server, Figure 1 below shows a typical deployment.

On the laptop and desktop side of the equation, Copiun provides a light agent that runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2003, and Windows 2008 and is delivered as an .msi package that can be installed using standard installation tools: SMS or Active Directory Group Policy. All aspects can be managed remotely from the backup server and all software updates are done centrally from the backup server according to corporate policy.
To help expedite the first backup of a large amount of data from a remote site, a Seeding Server option is available that enables a physical transfer of data to a temporary storage device, which can then be shipped to the datacenter.
Technical Requirements:
We recommend using RAID 5 Storage (internal or external), and Copiun would be happy to assist in determining the amount of storage required. In general, storage equal to 80%-100% of your current total data that needs to be protected will be sufficient for 3 years of backup data using Copiun. Additional storage can be added on an on-going basis.
