Copiun’s patent pending Object Based De-duplication takes storage and bandwidth efficiency to a whole new level. Copiun can detect common embedded objects across unrelated files spread across the entire company and stores and transmits them only once. For example, if a Marketing Manager in Boston embeds a product image into a PowerPoint document and a Salesperson in Dallas uses the same image in a completely different document – Copiun can detect that the two documents are using the same embedded image – and will store and transmit the backup data for that image only once.
Additionally, when a document is edited, Copiun can detect only the net new changes at the entire company level and backup only those, e.g. if a PowerPoint Slide is copied from another document Copiun detects that and in most cases doesn’t need to store that data again.
PST File De-duplication
PST files are notorious for their large sizes driven by large amounts of embedded attachments within the PST files. Copiun’s Object based de-duplication can detect embedded attachments within PST files and store them only once across all the systems in a company.
Copiun can detect such common objects without requiring any costly comparisons across files or machines – allowing the de-duplication to scale to thousands of independent systems spread across the entire enterprise – without requiring any machine to machine communication.
